I'll admit I wrote Monolord off as a one riff pony after seeing the video for 'Empress Rising' a few times. Oh, how things have changed. 'Your Time To Shine' is just fucking sweet from the first groove to the needle lifting. 'To Each Their Own' starts out swinging, then gets pretty and reflective, then builds again before hitting us with an epic riff hiding in the outro...but that's not the only gem. For instance, the title track begins with a clean minor-key intro that has enough bathroom tile reverb to drown an elephant in a tub. This builds into more epic riffness until the vocals finally come in almost 3 minutes in. The spacey ode to Sabbath riff outro goes about 2 1/2 minutes of relaxing chillness. The last track 'The Siren Of Versinia' progesses through temp changes and soulful guitar leads before ending suddenly. No disappoinments here.

For fans of: Slow stoner doom, etc.
