Om continue the fine art of spritual stoner rock with master Steve Albini at the helm this time. They seem to have finally sorted the balance of atmopshereic, simplistic-sounding well-timed subtleties with the crushing heaviness of a full-on metal rhythm section. Many notes are repeated, and it sounds simple, but the arrangement and timings are out of this world. Carefully placed rhythmic drums and flowing, droning, distorted basslines provide the frame for trance-like, chanting vocals that express deep astral stoner mantras. If you're looking for music to chill out too, this is it.
Smoke up.
