On the heels of the cancellation of their European tour, Austin, TX’s The
Sword are also regretfully canceling the remainder of their scheduled US
dates due to the departure of their drummer, Trivett Wingo. The split is
amicable and both Trivett and the rest of the band wish each other the
best of the luck with their respective plans. The Sword are already
working diligently to reschedule their European and US dates.
Trivett explains: "It is with deep sadness that I am announcing my
departure from The Sword. After nearly seven years and some of the most
amazing adventures of a lifetime, I have arrived at a place where I am
physically and emotionally unable to continue on as part of The Sword.
If I could go any further, I would as I love the music and JD, Bryan and
Kyle are people that I deeply respect, but I have reached a point where
I just can’t do this anymore. I would like to thank the wonderful people
who made this experience what it has been: the fans, the people that I
have worked and all of the bands and musicians that have inspired me
over the years. I thank you and apologize for any disappointment that
this may cause anyone, not least of which The Sword." - Trivett Wingo
Here is an official statement from The Sword: "We wish Trivett nothing but
the best, and it is with heavy hearts that we bid him farewell. He is a
phenomenal musician and has been an integral part of this band’s success.
He helped to lay the foundation that we will continue to build upon, and
we wouldn’t be where we are without him. We wish he could continue the
adventure with us, but we understand that the life of a touring musician
is not for everyone. It’s been a hell of a ride, and we’re sad to see
this part of the journey end. The show must go on, though, and will be
back on the road as soon as humanly possible." - JD, Kyle & Bryan

9/8/10 Machine Head's Robb Flynn was robbed yesterday, the following is taken
from the band's website:
"Today, Sept 7th, between the hours of 1:15 PM and 3:15 PM while I was
picking my son up from school, my house (which is located in the
Martinez/Virginia Hills area of California) was broken into and many
priceless items were stolen. Items include my wife's jewelry, laptops,
wakeboards, cash, and most importantly 4 of my guitars including the
guitar that I recorded my first album Burn My Eyes with. Also stolen
was a guitar that is priceless to me, that was a gift from Dimebag Darrell.
The cock suckers even stole my son Zander's mini Flying V I got him for
Christmas.
I am offering a $1,000 reward for the return of the Black Ibanez strat
along with many stickers, a "Designated Drinker" sticker. Additionally
I am also offering a $2,000 reward for the safe return of the blue
Washburn Dimebolt prototype.
An APB has been put out to every Guitar Center in Northern California and
the Police were able to get several fingerprints off of the 2 acoustics
that the thieves handled, yet bizarrely left behind. Sightings of two
suspicious vehicles have been reported, one a green/teal U.S.-make pickup
truck, the other a white full-size work van.
If anyone sees or hears of anything on Craigslist, eBay, at their guitar
shop... anything, anywhere! Please contact us at mike@machinehead1.com
immediately.

8/27/08 Age Eternal, (formally Middian) are done, here's their
post on myspace:
Age Eternal(Middian) is fucking dead.
Our lawsuit is finally coming to a close. It has been a hard year,
and we could not have done it without the support of the metal
community world wide and the time and money people donated to our
cause. We are eternally in your debt.
Sadly, the lawsuit came with a high cost to us personally and
interpersonally. Scott Headrick is quitting the band and moving.
Mike S felt he needed to back off from touring due to family and
work/lack of work issues, cutting his touring commitment from
60-70 shows a year to a handful of shows, mostly local to the
West Coast, for an indefinite amount of time, maybe permanently.
This extreme change in direction, coupled with the immense stress
of our lawsuit and inner conflicts in the band resulted in Scott's
decision to move on with his life. Scott Headrick is the highest
caliber of person. We mourn his loss, and support his need to take
care of himself.
We are very sad to share this news about Age Eternal, but are
confident that it must and will open the doors for new music
creation and growth.
Will Lindsay and Mike S will continue to write music with the goal
of recording and doing some shows, under another name, as a new
band and not Age Eternal. And with Will’s now full-time commitment
playing guitar with the immaculate Wolves In The Throneroom,
people should be expecting to see him in their hometown in the USA
and abroad very soon.
News regarding the reformation of YOB, including a small number of
shows and a new recording, shall be announced officially soon.
Once again, we cannot thank the metal community and people who
donated their money and time enough. We feel extremely fortunate
to be a part of such a quality group of people, and we will pay
your kindness and generosity forward.
Doomed Regards,
Age Eternal RIP

1/13/06 Oregon doomsters YOB have disbanded, which
sucks bigtime. Here's the offical statement:
This is Mike from YOB. I regret to say that YOB
is disbanding after almost 10 years of existence.
The time we spent with YOB exceeded our wildest
expectations and hopes and it has truly been a dream
come true. Travis Foster and Isamu Sato left the band
in July, and I have been trying to decide what to do
for the last six months. YOB has had 3 other line-ups,
but this one was the best. At the end of the day the
best thing for YOB is to call it a day. I want to
thank everyone who has been supportive to YOB over
the years....labels, bands, fans, the venues, our
families....without you none of this would have been
possible. I will be working on a new band called
AGE that will very much be in the vein of YOB, with
some new twists. Until then, be well and stay HEAVY!
ENDLESS DOOM!!! Mike/YOB

aim as high as everyone coming together however
briefly, to have a good time without hurting anyone?"

Obviously this news has shocked the metal world and nothing will be the same without Dimebag. As we reflect on what happened and ask "why?" it must be stressed that this was an isolated incident, the guy was a nut.
