Damn, this is one of the most impressive METAL albums I've heard in quite awhile, and from a band I'd never heard of before. Turns out these guys have been around for 10 years, they put out their first album "Terror Incognita" in 2001, and have been evolving in France ever since. In case you're wondering, the songs are in English... not that it matters, the music itself would hook most metalheads. Gojira seem to me like intricate death metal with several little details I can't put a finger on, although there aren't any solos, they've got a thing for Randy Rhoads-style harmonics, and are thoughtfully mellow on the few instrumental tracks here. This album would be massively appreciated by fans of metal along the lines of Strapping Young Lad, Meshuggah, Fear Factory, Entombed, and Opeth...there's a whale flying around planets on the cover, can't go wrong with that.
