Here's where I use alot of verbs and adjectives and fuck you I was carving Metallica lyrics into my desk during English class ok? to describe the new Down EP.
Heavy and bluesy come to mind first, no surprise there. The album fades in with some pounding war drums from Jimmy and from there the epic metal flows. There are some truly nasty riffs on this one, and some epic metal leads, harkening back to NOLA. Phil has his signature catchy bruised up vocal hooks. 'Witchtripper' and 'Open Coffins' are favorites. 'Misfortune Teller' holds down the end of the album and clocks in over 9 minutes. If this is just the first EP in the series then I can't wait for more.I just wish they'd release it on vinyl.
Like a fine wine, Down seem to be improving with age.
