Germany's Bees Made Honey in the Vein Tree have been busy bees indeed, the band released their debut just over a year ago, and left the heavy psych world spinning on it's head. Now a bold 2nd release is upon us, and the golden liquid doom is dripping from the comb.
The opus kicks off with a a feedback-drenched intro to a 17+ minute storm of soundwaves, 'Cinitus', the eye of which blows in just under 7 minutes in and obliterates your world. Everything cuts clean for the start of 'Craving' as it builds tension through guitar melodies. The tile track comes in with lumbering bull-in-a-China-shop heavy bass and trippy ambient guitar with feedback and distortion coming through panned to the right. The whole wave builds to a crest, and faint vocals greet the listener briefly, coming back stronger from the abyss. A strong groove pulls us out into the undertow of the last track, 'Dionysus'.
With 4 tracks clocking in at just over 45 minutes, this is a nice slice of heaviness for your album collection. Strap in and melt into the couch.
For fans of YOB, Earth, Ufomammut, ISIS, etc.
