"Popping pills and drinking booze, smoking everyday, stoned and drunk, completely gone, my world is here to stay" - I think Zakk Wylde has just succeded in creating the offical backstage at Ozzfest soundtrack. 45 minutes and 2 seconds of music to drink yourself stupid to. It's just good heavy music with a healthy dose of Skynyrd thrown in here and there, hell "Dead Meadow" could've easily been on "Nuthin' Fancy". Artifical harmonics are in abundance as usual, capping off some of Zakk's finest serious southern-fried metal riffs. Of course there are a few wrist-slitters on here, "Blackened Waters" has that slow melodic bassline mixed with Zakk's emotional guitar picking that can manipulate the listener into feeling every depressing moment he's trying to convey. Damn he's good. Ozzy sneaks his way in on "Stillborn" to lend a helping hand on backup vocals, just to add another kick to what is already a solid album. Sure enough this album will have the little nu-metal kiddies fleeing in terror when Zakk hits the stage this summer.
