In light of Arch Enemy's presently departed vocalist and the arrival of new FEMALE vocalist, Angela Gossow, questions were raised on the future of the band. All questions have now been put to rest. This has to be, hands down, the best Arch Enemy album they've ever done! Plus, there is a reason this album made my top 20 of 2001. No, forget that! There are many reasons that happened! First, the vocals are amazing! Angela fills the spot like she was born into it. Her growls and screams dominate the mix and drive in a way not seen before in Arch Enemy. The Amott Brothers drive this album with twin guitar attacks fom start to finish. One of their better albums for sure, up there with Burning Bridges and Stigmata. Andy Sneep's mixing makes tracks like "Enemy Within", "Web Of Lies", "Burning Angel" and "Shadows and Dust" destroy eardrums worldwide. Simply more proof as to why he is on so many band's wishlists for producers. The only downfall is that for some reason the album was released in Japan only, while the rest of the world has to wait until mid-March. That would technically make this a 2001 release. Still, this album MUST find it's way into your cd rack. In other words........BUY IT!
